FB agency costs

Let’s talk about Facebook ads and Facebook ads pricing.

Facebook ads are often lumped in with “performance marketing”.

In reality, they are their own channel and should be considered so for hiring purposes – as well as budgeting.

Here are the Facebook Ads Agency Survey Results:

  • 59% of social ads providers charge between $100-$200 per hour

  • 15.74% have a single project minimum over $5,000
  • 39.02% have a retainer minimum between $1,000-$3,000 per month
  • Only 5.15% of social ads providers do not have a minimum

  • 51.8% of social ads agencies offer flat-fee billing
  • 23.93% of social ads agencies offer flat fee plus a percentage of spend
  • 26% of social ads agencies offer billing as flat fee OR percentage of spend

How Facebook Ads Pricing Works

Facebook pricing differs from PPC pricing in that it is usually higher because more is required from the agency.

PPC involves bidding strategies and copywriting, which Facebook advertising does as well.

However, Facebook also requires a strong creative department to be effective. We are visual creatures and Facebook is a busy place.

Thus, a base management fee for Facebook is usually around $2,000-$2,500 per month, with creative and testing on a schedule being included in that.

According to Indeed, “the average salary for a Facebook ads manager is $61,513 per year in the United States.”

To hire a Facebook ads agency, you’ll usually pay:

  • $2,000-$2,500 per month for copy and creative (more depending on the speed of testing and creative needed)
  • 10-15% of ad spend over $10,000 per month
  • Probably an onboarding fee of ~$2,000

This totals out to ~$38,000 for an agency as compared to $61,513 on average for a full-time PPC manager on an ad spend of $15,000 per month.

Hiring an agency at a spend level of $15,000 per month is still more economical than a full-time person, but slightly less than on the PPC side of your digital strategy.
