Facebook Ads Pricing

Chapter 11: Facebook Ads Pricing

59% of social ads providers charge between $100-$200 per hour. 34.10% have a single project minimum between $1,000-$3,000.

Let’s talk about Facebook ads and Facebook ads pricing for a minute now. Facebook ads are often lumped in with “performance marketing”, but are in reality their own channel and need to be thought of as such for hiring purposes as well as budgeting.

Before we get into how pricing models usually work for Facebook ads companies, here are the numbers:

  • 59% of social ads providers charge between $100-$200 per hour
  • 34.10% have a single project minimum between $1,000-$3,000
  • 15.74% have a single project minimum over $5,000
  • 39.02% have a retainer minimum between $1,000-$3,000 per month
  • Only 5.15% of social ads providers do not have a minimum
  • 23.93% do not have a minimum contract length.  30.49% have a contract minimum of 6-12 months.
  • 51.8% of social ads agencies offer flat-fee billing
  • 23.93% of social ads agencies offer flat fee plus a percentage of spend
  • 26% of social ads agencies offer billing as flat fee OR percentage of spend
  • Only 11.8% of social ads agencies offer a percentage of spending as a billing option
  • Only 6.56% of social ads agencies off a billing option as a percentage of profits/uplift

How Facebook ads pricing works

Facebook ads pricing differs from PPC pricing in that it is usually higher because more is required from the agency. PPC involves bidding strategies and copywriting, which Facebook advertising does as well, but Facebook ads also require a strong creative department to be effective.

Thus, we usually see that a base management fee for Facebook ads is usually around $2,000-$2,500 per month, with creative and testing on a schedule being included in that. According to Indeed, “the average salary for a Facebook ads manager is $61,513 per year in the United States.”

To hire a Facebook ads agency, you’ll usually pay:

  • $2,000-$2,500 per month for copy and creative (more depending on the speed of testing and creative needed)
  • 10-15% of ad spend over $10,000 per month
  • Probably an onboarding fee of ~$2,000

This totals out to ~$38,000 for an agency as compared to $61,513 on average for a full-time PPC manager on an ad spend of $15,000 per month.

Hiring an agency at a spend level of $15,000 per month is still more economical than a full-time person, but slightly less than on the PPC side of the house.
